Us
We are Serena and Erica Franchino, ski instructors with degrees in business administration.
Our passion for the mountains and for Sauze di Cesana was passed down to us by our maternal grandparents and our mother, who were born and raised in this small, beautiful gem of the Ripa Valley.
The idea of building and running a Room & Breakfast fits perfectly with our story and that of our family: the many winters and summers we’ve spent at the foot of these mountains have filled our hearts with dreams and plans. Not least of all, this one.
In 2026, this dream entered a new chapter with the creation of Granuit Alpine Home: two small apartments built on the ground floor of the cabin. This project was born out of a deep love for this home and a desire to keep its history alive, combining the charm of tradition with modern comforts.
This milestone was made possible in part thanks to Giovanni, Serena’s partner—who is also a ski instructor—and who, with the same passion, dedication, and care, has shared every step of this journey, helping to turn a family dream into a reality to be lived and shared.
And so, brick by brick, Granuit continues to grow, cherishing its roots while opening itself up to new memories, encounters, and emotions.

THE HOUSE
A HISTORICAL LEGACY
The house was built in 1603. At that time, it consisted of a stable, a barn, a granary, and a small room for sleeping.
Serena’s family bought the house in 2004. The renovation work began in 2015 and was completed in the fall of 2018.
The renovation work was carried out by Serena’s father, Massimo Franchino, who was able to bring our dreams and our project to life using stone, mortar, wood, and a great deal of passion. The Granuit guesthouse project was born out of the desire of Serena, her sister Erica, and their mother Carla.
Giovanni helped renovate the ground floor, where the two Alpine Home apartments are now located, and he manages the property together with Serena.
PHILOSOPHY
FOR A SUSTAINABLE STAY
The cabin was renovated to ensure the least possible impact on the environment, earning it an Energy Efficiency Class A rating.
Hot water is provided by solar thermal panels, and heating is provided by a wood-fired boiler.
Management is guided by the principles of zero waste and those set forth in the United Nations 2030 Agenda— “I refuse if I can’t reuse” —aimed at eliminating plastic or ensuring its complete reuse.

PRODUCTS
